Ag Scoop is a curated directory that links you to Australian producers. We try to collect as little of your information as possible, and the most important thing to know is this: when you buy something, you do it on the producer's own website — your payment and delivery details go to them, never through us.

This policy is written to be read, not to hide things. It explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It isn't legal advice, and you should have it reviewed by a lawyer before relying on it for your own business.

1. Who we are

Ag Scoop ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at agscoop.com.au. We're an Australian referral directory connecting shoppers with rural producers and makers. We're the data controller for the limited personal information described below.

2. What we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us, plus a small amount of standard technical data:

  • Newsletter sign-ups: your email address.
  • Contact form: your name, email address, and whatever you write in your message.
  • Producer applications: your business name, contact name, email, optional phone number, category, state, website, and the details you provide about your product.
  • Technical data: our hosting provider records standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) for security and to keep the site running.

3. How we use it

We use your information only for the purpose you gave it to us:

  • To send you the newsletter you subscribed to (and nothing else).
  • To reply to your message or assess your producer application.
  • To keep the website secure, working, and free of spam and abuse.

4. What we don't do

  • We never see or store your payment details — purchases happen on the producer's own website.
  • We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone.
  • We don't show third-party advertising, and we don't let anyone pay to have their listing promoted to you inside our content.

5. Who we share it with

We share your information only where it's necessary to run the service:

  • Our hosting and form provider (Netlify) processes form submissions and serves the website. Their spam-filtering may screen submissions.
  • Email tools we use to send the newsletter, if and when you subscribe.
  • Producers only receive your information if you contact them or buy from them directly on their own site — that's a relationship between you and them, governed by their privacy policy.
  • Authorities, where we're required to by Australian law.

6. Cookies and tracking

Ag Scoop runs without advertising or invasive tracking cookies. Our hosting provider may set essential cookies needed to deliver the site securely. If we add privacy-respecting analytics in future to understand which deals are popular, we'll update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

When you click through to a producer, we may use a simple referral link or code so the producer can credit the sale to us. This tells the producer the visit came from Ag Scoop; it doesn't identify you personally to us.

Our listings link to external websites we don't control. Once you leave Ag Scoop, the producer's own privacy policy and terms apply. We choose who we list carefully, but we can't be responsible for how another business handles your data.

8. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act, you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct anything that's wrong;
  • Delete your information (for example, unsubscribe and remove your email); or
  • Stop using it for a particular purpose.

Every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe link. For anything else, just email us and we'll action it, usually within a few days.

9. How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS, form submissions are length-limited and screened for spam, and we keep the personal information we hold to the minimum needed. No system is perfectly secure, but because we don't handle payments or store sensitive data, the information at risk is deliberately small.
